My hometown, New Orleans, is constantly bustling with an abundance of visual artistry — the architecture, cemeteries, ancient oaks, bayous, the French Quarter and, of course, the natives. The Big Easy is at once elegant, cultured, and refined, yet dilapidated, boisterous and vulgar. To document these lush eccentricities, I capture portraits of the environments that share the diversity of this unique personality. It is the forbidden or at least the off limit aspects that draw me in. With years of observation, I am no closer to an understanding of the Crescent City’s enigmatic character. My camera and I will just continue to expose the wonder of it all.
