A few days ago, I was checking out a site that purported to have pictures of the “50 Most Beautiful Women in the World.” Of course, all the images were of celebrities; names most of us would recognize. That got me to thinking… hhhnmmnmnmnmh?
Which portrait of the kabillions I have taken would I classify as my most striking/beautiful image. In recent memory there is one that stands out among all the rest. The picture, below, is that of a woman I saw at a party. I didn’t know her, but as I looked at her a couple of times, I knew I had to photograph her. Remembering that “I am a professional,” I walked over to where she was sitting and asked if she would agree to a sitting. She said she would think about it, but that she wasn’t a model, and had seldom had her portrait done. I gave her my card.
At least a month went by before she emailed me and agreed to sit for a portrait. We set a date, and when the time came, I was not displeased by the results. She was very reserved and nervous. It took a bit of direction to get the pose I wanted, but when it was done, she said she didn’t think she looked like that. She was also not very pleased about the way a lonesome strand of hair would not behave. When I told her that the strand was a reflection of her personality, she laughed.
We only had that one sitting, but it was a memorable one. What about you? Does a portrait you have taken immediately come to mind? If so, send it to me and I might be able to use it for a future post in RedDogNews.com.
